| A New Powerhead and Other Manly Christmas Gift Ideas |
| It is an unfortunate truth that many women find the men in their lives difficult to shop for. This is usually because the hobbies of men and women are so dramatically different that women find it difficult to get into the head of a man and decide what would be most appealing as a present. The hurdle that is often the most difficult to cross is trying to think of manly gifts, such as a powerhead for his boat, particularly for men who have fairly manly hobbies.
For the best Christmas gift ideas, it is important to consider what the man's hobbies are. For instance, a man who is into sports, video games, and hobbies such as boating, fishing, and hunting probably isn't going to be too impressed with the old standbys, a tie or a wallet, as a Christmas gift. Rather, you would do better getting something that has to do with his hobbies.
Here are a few ideas to get the creative juices flowing. These ideas may not suit the man you are shopping for, but they should at least get you started about what he would like best.
Something for his boat: If the man you are shopping for spends a lot of time on his boat, you might want to choose something related to his favorite hobby when you are shopping for Christmas presents. And no, a bumper sticker that says "My other car is a boat" doesn't count. Instead, think of parts and accessories that he might like for his boat.
Lack of knowledge about certain hobbies can get in the way, however. If you don't know much about boats, for instance if you don't know what a powerhead is, you might find it difficult to shop for something for a man's boat. In this case, you might want to consider a gift card, or even let him pick out his own present. If you are particularly clever, you might be able to get him to talk about what he needs for his boat. Be sure to ask probing questions so that you can get the right parts!
Tools: It may sound like a stereotype, but most guys really do love tools for Christmas, especially power tools. Many men feel about tools the same way some women feel about shoes: so many choices, so little space in the garage (or closet, in the woman's case). For the man who works on his car regularly or does a lot of home improvement projects, there is literally a special tool for almost everything.
Again, if you don't know what tools to get the man you are shopping for, don't be afraid to get a gift card. It might seem like the easy way out, but men love to shop for tools about as much as some women like to shop for clothes or shoes or purses. Deciding what to spend the gift card on will likely keep him busy for hours.
Something sports related: A lot of manly men like to play sports, not just watch them. If you are shopping for a man whose hobby is sports, consider getting him something he can really use. Again, if you are skilled at getting information out of people in a conversation without attracting too much attention to what you are doing, you might be able to find out what he needs or wants. Otherwise, consider a gift card to his favorite sporting goods store or catalog.
Shopping for a man really isn't as difficult as you might think once you start considering his hobbies, what he gets the most excited about or spends the most time on. Just keep in mind that to a man who has a passion for boating, for instance, a new powerhead is just as exciting as a new purse might be to you. |
