| A Fossil Watch is Anything But Prehistoric |
| In paleontology, a fossil is what remains of a body of a living organism that has since been edified in rock formations in the fossil record. Over a minimum of 10,000 years, sand, sediment, and water have combined to form a tomb around the organism. This shell creates a perfect replica of the organism and is then filled with mineralized water, and a rock cast is made of it. It is prehistoric, an impression of a time long since passed, something that has, through thousands of genetic interchanges, influenced our current life. Its effect is remote and minimal. A Fossil watch, however, couldn’t be farther from this idea; Fossil is constantly challenging the limits of innovative design and chronographic style. A Fossil watch isn’t just a timepiece, it’s an extension of personal style and the personal commitment to excel.
The women’s collection couldn’t be more varied. There are novelty watches, with cute designs like hearts that look like they are fluttering over the face of the watch, playing at the connection of love and time the way that love sometimes makes a moment feel like an eternity and a whole lifetime feel like the briefest of blissful seconds. Love, which so often messes with time, flirts with it here. There are traditional watches with white faces and aluminum wristbands, and then there are standout pieces like a chunky brown leather watch of connected squares (one of which contains the watch face) that look more like a well-heeled woman’s modern bracelet than a timepiece. Another Fossil watch has girly details like little rhinestones and a pink face, and yet another has a distinct menswear feel; like a woman in a perfectly-tailored suit jacket, it’s inescapably feminine with a playful, capable edge to it. Another classic look, the two tone silver and gold style, comes in many different varieties. There are red leather bands, thin silver bands, and many different varieties that seem to acknowledge the fact that, much like a little black dress, there may be a huge number of different choices, but there’s one perfect Fossil watch for every woman’s unique personality and style.
The men’s collection is no less outstanding. Playing more to the side of darkness than light, the men’s line seems to consider contrast in every element. There are huge, broad circular faces that have a very thin border, so rather than feeling chunky and overpowering, they appear to be modern, elegant, and self-assured. Colors like brown, black, silver and a luminous navy take center stage here, like a blue-faced watch that has inner, off-center circles showing different time functions. This Fossil watch is all about usability and function combined with a dark wash of color that makes it gorgeous, not busy. Jet black is contrasted with bright silver, dark brown leather edged with white contrast stitching that makes a statement of the entire watch, and not just the face. There’s even the occasional pop of color, like an electric orange watch face in an otherwise forgettable silver watch that makes the whole look personal, surprising, and memorable.
Beyond its style, a Fossil watch is a brand you want to stand behind, just like you would a Kenneth Cole watch. Its sellers offer warranties that are generally in the double digits of years and features that take it to the next level. They offer stainless steel casing, expert construction, and water resistance of varying depths on almost all of their watches. Fossil really represents a highly customizable brand; you can buy an inexpensive, relatively basic watch that has style and reliable construction, or you can buy the cutting edge of time keeping technology in a modern or traditional style.
Unlike a fossil that has been solidified, unchanging, for thousands of years, Fossil is modern, cutting edge, and innovative while offering a range of selections that ensures everyone will find their Fossil watch. |
