Four Reasons to Hire an Office Moving Company
An office moving company is an expense that some companies choose to avoid, but sometimes it is better to just go ahead and hire the help. Moving your office is a major undertaking, and depending on how much you have to move, how much time you have to do it in, and some other considerations, it might just be too much of a job for you and your office crew to do by yourselves.

Here are a few good reasons to hire an office moving company:

Because you have a lot to move. Just because you have a small business, doesn’t mean you don’t have much stuff in your office. Small businesses have just as much furniture, electronics, paperwork, and other things per person as a larger business does. So the more people you have working for you, the more you are going to have to move, regardless of whether you classify yourself as a small business.

It might seem tempting to just make each person responsible for packing and moving their own stuff, but even if that works out smoothly, you are still left with the stuff that belongs to nobody, such as the dishes and appliances in the kitchen. Plus, the more people’s workspaces have to get moved, the more foot traffic you are going to deal with on moving day, and the more opportunities there will be for delays.

There are many reasons to hire an office moving company, but having a lot of stuff to move is probably the biggest reason. It just makes good sense.

Because you don’t have a lot of time for moving. Moving takes time, usually more than you expect when you do it yourself. An office moving company usually assigns several movers or more to your move, depending on your needs. This means that they get in, get the job done, and get out again, reducing the amount of time you need to spend moving.

Often, businesses really don’t have a lot of time to spend moving. A store, for instance, needs to be all moved and ready to go in time for the scheduled reopening. Getting behind on moving means no customers, no sales, and a lot of earning potential lost. In an office, on the other hand, you can severely restrict the ability of your employees to do their jobs if the moving process is drawn out for too long.

Finally, if you are moving from one building to another, chances are you have a very small window in which to move, usually just a few days where the beginning of one lease overlaps with the end of the other. In this case, you literally can’t take too long moving, making an office moving company virtually a necessity.

Because your employees have other, more important things they need to do. Any time your staff spends packing up, moving, and unpacking is time they are not spending doing their real jobs. Since your employees are not movers, it doesn’t make sense for them to do the moving. They have other, more important things to do, things that actually have a significant bearing on your company’s income.

So unless you can convince your employees to put in a weekend of unpaid hours just to move the office, chances are you will benefit by paying to hire an office moving company so that your employees are free to keep earning your company money.

Because your employees can’t do the heavy lifting. Moving an office usually requires a lot of heavy lifting, as there are desks and other furniture that needs to be moved. However, in an office it is probably pretty likely that your employees consist of a bunch of people who aren’t used to lifting heavy objects. You may even have people who are physically incapable of it. Hiring an office moving company prevents you from having to worry about who can help and who is a lawsuit waiting to happen!

As you can see, there are many reasons why it is a good idea to hire an office moving company. Not doing so can cost your business a lot of time and money, perhaps more so than just hiring the movers in the first place. Of course, don’t forget that the cost of hiring an office moving company is considered a reasonable business expense, which means it could be deductible on your business’ taxes.
